New in 5.7: Overlays on men - Women's Proteus overlays and tattoos now show on men (TBSE or the men's vanilla body), moved into his layout through body maps that download the first time they're needed. - "Overlay on men" (on by default) turns that on or off per mod. Art made for men is never changed. Body size: men and women - "Refit for" now crosses the sexes for Midlander gear: men's tops and legs can be made women's, and women's tops and legs men's. - Women's garments rigged to YAS (or another women's skeleton) can be made men's. Their extra bones are moved onto the men's skeleton (IVCS when you have it), and the moves are listed for you. - Men's legs refitted for women move TBSE's earring bones onto the hips, so the pants no longer follow the ears. - "Every size for other bodies" offers TBSE and TBSE-X on a women's mod, adding men's versions of its chest and legs in a group of their own, "Men's body". - "Refit for" also goes down a race: a Highlander-only garment can be made a Midlander's. - Nothing is refused for folded faces any more. How many turned over is shown in the warning colour, so you can check those spots in game. Body size: fit - Refit onto a body option that models underwear in place of skin (Muse+'s and Bibo+'s SFW options): the underwear comes in with the garment. - Panties, thongs and leotards refitted onto another body no longer pull apart at the crotch when the legs spread. - A refit swaps the old body's waist skin even where it runs past the new body's legs. - A refit from the game's own chest follows a flatter chest, its bra read together with its skin. - The Body size tool refits the game's own tops the same way the automatic refit does. - The game's own tops refitted onto a large bust (such as the Witch's Coatee) no longer show their inside through open skin at the strap tips. - Keep shape no longer throws flat pieces far off the body (Virtu Dancer's giant buttons on Tre). A refit that already came out wrong needs remaking. Studio - "Move skin too" lets the brushes, Grab, Move, Rotate and Scale reshape the garment's own body skin, with the clothes over it following. - Mirror left/right now works for Move, Rotate and Scale too, and mirrors skin moved with "Move skin too". - The game's own gear opens as itself, and is only copied into a mod when you first change it, not when you click it. - Live brush previews are written as temporary files in memory, so brushing writes once to the disk (as opposed to about ~6 total times before in typical use). Colors - Dragging a color, glow or other color-table control saves the mod's settings once, when you let go, instead of on every frame. The character still follows the drag live. Hair - Settings > Hair: "Take the ears off Miqo'te hair mods" makes earless copies of eared Miqo'te hair mods; turning it off brings the ears back. - Miqo'te hair with ears now ports to Lalafell (Loosened Bun, and the game's hairstyles 194 and 195). - Hair ports read the source hair's skeleton entry from the mod's other groups too. - Hair that folds when fitted to another race is fitted with a warning instead of refused. Mods - A Proteus mod renamed in Penumbra is followed instead of dropping out of Proteus. New in v5.5 Automatic body refit: chest, legs, hand and foot gear refitted to your chosen body and sizes as you put it on (Settings > Body refit) Body refit can refit the game's own gear, each item into its own mod Body size for modders: Every size for other bodies adds Neolithe, Bibo, Rue, YAB, YAB Buff, Tre, Rosaline, TBSE and TBSE-X sizes to a whole mod at once Every size also sizes shoes and gloves, joining them to the outfit's sizes Shoes and gloves keep their own feet and hands (heels and all) when refitted Refits bring the new body's nails and piercings with its skin Refits smooth the new body's nipples under covering cloth Body refit: gen2 legs refit onto Bibo bodies Studio: Grab brush (drag cloth like rubber) and Smooth brush Studio: new layout, with tools in a column, settings beside them and the model to the right Studio: part list opens as a drawer beside the model instead of covering it Studio: lock parts out of the way of every brush and the Move tools Studio, Scale: axis handles stretch a part along one direction only Studio: brush falloff shown as a rainbow on the character and in the model view Studio: brush edits reach PlayerSync and Lightless pairs while Proteus is open Second skin: Span the belly button stretches cloth flat across the navel And many many bug fixes. New in v5.0 One click upscales - Studio has a new Body size tool. Pick the body a garment was made for and the body you want it on, and Proteus upscales it automatically. Hats now automatically fit over modded hair by default hat compat is now on by default. It waits until a hat is actually worn, then presses the hair it would cover flat against the head. It edits the hair mod's own files but keeps the originals, so it can be undone or switched off under Settings, Hats. Designs restore the whole look a Glamourer design bound to Proteus can restore every mod that was on the character when it was saved, raised above anything that conflicts. Mods that aren't Proteus mods are only held with Penumbra's temporary settings, so the collection itself never changes, and Penumbra's banner can drop a single hold. It's off by default, under Bindings, "Restore every mod on the character". New in v4.0 * Studio Edit your characters equipped models, live on your character in the game. Move parts around, fix clipping in seconds. Add wind effects to tassles and more. * Cloth layer overlays are now 20x closer to the body, so they won't clip with gear worn over as much. * Improved support for mesh smoothing on more bodies New in v3.5 * Geometry smoothing and bridging to look less painted on -- now bodysuits will have a realistic cloth bridge between the breasts and butt cheeks. Bumpy areas will be smooth. Toes will have a proper cap instead of your stockings being toe socks (unless you want that). * Automatic hat compatibility -- all hairs will be automatically adjusted to fit under hats the first time they're worn with one. Hairs with incomplete hat compatibility for all races will be fixed. * Asymmetric faces and tattoos - Just drop your asymmetric art in the Create tab, check the box and your asymmetric makeup and body art will be projected onto you, even if you are wearing symmetric faces or vanilla gear. NEW IN v3.0 • Import regular old mods and equip them without using a gear slot. • Add toggles to any part of any mod. • Imports Atramentum Luminis glow tattoos (.ttmp2). Their glow becomes a Proteus overlay you can recolour and dim, with no shader mod needed. • Import Atramentum Luminis eye mods and add animated glow or other shaders. • Create a proteus mod with your base skin and use it on gen3/bibo/gen2/vanilla gear. NEW IN v2.1 * Onion mod (omp) import * Export * New UI * Many fixes for cloth layers not showing, especially on some races. NEW IN v2.0 * Use any shader! This means you can have multicolor or animated glows, metal, vinyl, iridescent. * Skindent, so Proteus clothing mods don't look painted on. * Create tab - make your own proteus mods with just a transparent overlay in 3 clicks. * Much improved colorset editor to access all the other shader values and manage layers * Penumbra 1.7 support Proteus is a Dalamud plugin for FFXIV that composites overlay textures onto your character's skin and equipment at runtime. Mod authors ship small PNG overlays alongside their Penumbra mods; Proteus blends them onto the base textures every time you change options, without touching the original mod files. So, you can make lingerie that goes under all your other mods without taking up a slot. Tattoos that glow. Scales on any race that you can dye. Bind your overlays to Penumbra mods that can be toggled with Glamourer. Adjust priorities in each of your collections. Includes a mini "shader" that adds an index texture and colorset to shaders like skin that don't have them. This lets you dye overlays, make them glow and adjust their opacity. The plugin works on any mod, including any body mod, but overlays are specific to the body, for example. So you'd need a Gen3 tattoo mod for a Gen 3 body. Users can get the plugin using the instructions here: https://github.com/solona-m/proteus/blob/main/README.md Creators, https://github.com/solona-m/proteus/blob/main/For%20Creators.md tells you how to get started making your own proteus mods. It includes a Substance Painter template that gives you one-click mod creation directly from substance. Find Proteus compatible mods here: https://www.xivmodarchive.com/search?basic_text=proteus
